📋 Start Smart - Audits That Matter
The right audit sets the foundation for comfort, savings, and smart upgrades. We help you choose the best fit for your home or business — no guesswork, just real insights that lead to results.
What is Project Probono?
The project behind Project Probono is a mission-driven energy audit and consulting service focused on making expert building diagnostics accessible and impactful. We help dedicated homeowners and small businesses reduce energy costs, improve comfort, and qualify for utility rebates — all through science-backed strategies that lead to measurable results.
Do you subcontract the work or is it done in-house?
Nope, all of our services and installations are performed entirely by our in-house team. We do not use subcontractors — our trained professionals handle every part of the process to ensure quality, consistency, and accountability allowing us to pass savings directly to our clients.
Do you serve the Lehigh Valley and surrounding areas?
Yes! We proudly serve the Lehigh Valley, including Allentown, Bethlehem, and Easton, as well as Bucks County, the Poconos, and other surrounding communities in Eastern Pennsylvania.
Do you charge extra for locations outside of the Lehigh Valley?
We only work with the most dedicated clients, and that’s especially important when serving areas outside the Lehigh Valley. To reduce or eliminate travel-related costs, we do our best to coordinate visits with other nearby clients.
Flexibility with dates and times allows us to plan efficiently and often avoid any added fees. We’ll discuss scheduling options during your Discovery call to see what works best.
How do I know if I want an energy audit?
If your home feels drafty, your utility bills are high, or you just want to improve comfort and efficiency, an energy audit is a smart first step. It reveals what’s really going on behind the scenes and helps you make informed decisions based on real data — not guesswork.
What is the energy audit process like?
The process starts with a Discovery Consultation, followed by an on-site evaluation using diagnostic tools (like blower doors, infrared cameras, etc.). After analysis, we provide a comprehensive report with actionable insights and recommendations.

Most audits are completed in a few hours on-site, with reports delivered within 5–7 business days.

What’s the difference between an estimate and an energy audit?
An estimate is a contractor's quote for a specific job. An energy audit is a full diagnostic evaluation of your home or building — it looks for root causes and gives you data, not just prices.
Why it matters: An audit puts you in control with unbiased, science-based insights so you can make smart, cost-effective decisions without being sold something you may not need.
Do I get a prioritized report?
Absolutely. Your audit includes a detailed report with ranked recommendations, helping you tackle improvements in the most effective order — based on energy savings, comfort impact, and available rebates.
What if I don’t agree with some of the solutions in the report?
That’s totally okay. Our role is to inform, not pressure. We provide recommendations to support your pursuit of comfort, efficiency, and return on investment (ROI) — but the decisions are always yours. You’re free to move forward with the solutions that best fit your goals, timeline, and budget.

🏛️ Are federal energy tax credits still available, even with changes at the EPA?
Yes — federal tax credits for energy-efficient home improvements are still available and remain in effect as of 2025. These credits are part of the Inflation Reduction Act (IRA) of 2022, and their availability is not dependent on the EPA’s current administrative status.
🔍 What's still available?
• The Energy Efficient Home Improvement Credit allows you to claim up to 30% of qualifying upgrade costs, with a max annual credit of $3,200.
• Up to $1,200 for improvements like insulation, air sealing, doors, windows, and home energy audits
• Up to $2,000 for qualified heat pumps, heat pump water heaters, and biomass boilers/stoves
• These credits are available for upgrades made through 2032
🧠 Important to know:
• These are federal tax incentives governed by IRS law — not EPA regulations
• Changes to these credits would require an act of Congress, not administrative restructuring
• Your eligibility depends on the type of upgrade, who installs it, and manufacturer specifications

Is the ppl energy audit free?
Not exactly — but PPL Electric Utilities offers the rebate of $200 to $350 that can significantly reduce or even fully cover the cost of your in-home energy audit.
💰 How much of a rebate can I get?
• $350 rebate if your home has both electric heat and central A/C
• $200 rebate if your home has either electric heat or central A/C
📝 How it works:
• We complete your audit.
• You fill out a Third-Party Authorization Form, allowing PPL to send the rebate directly to us.
• The rebate is applied as a credit to your invoice, so you won't have to wait for a check.
📎 Download the PPL Third-Party Authorization Form ➝
✅ To qualify:
• You must be a PPL Electric customer
• The audit must be done by a PPL-approved Trade Ally (like us)
• Heating and cooling type determines rebate amount
💬 We'll review your eligibility and walk you through the form — it's quick and easy.
📄 What is the Third-Party Authorization Form?
This simple PPL form gives you the option to assign the rebate payment directly to us instead of having it mailed to you. It's used only for the audit rebate, not for future upgrade rebates.
How do I qualify for rebates?
We can validate your account to determine your eligibility for applicable rebates through programs like the PPL Home Energy Efficiency Program and UGI Save Smart.
At Project ProBono, we simplify the entire rebate process for you. From verifying your account and eligibility to managing all the necessary paperwork, we handle everything – making it easy for you to enjoy the benefits without the hassle.
Will I receive a rebate check directly?
Yes. Rebate checks are typically mailed directly to you by the utility within 3–5 weeks after your paperwork is submitted and approved. We’ll guide you through the process to ensure everything is completed smoothly and on time.
Will Project Probono help with the paperwork?
Yes — we assist with the entire application process to ensure you don’t miss out on any available rebates or incentives.
Is financing available for recommended improvements?
Yes. Project Probono is a National Energy Improvement Fund (NEIF)–Approved Contractor, which means our clients have access to trusted, affordable financing options specifically designed for energy efficiency projects.
NEIF offers fixed-rate, low monthly payment loans for upgrades like insulation, heating, cooling, air sealing, and more — with no prepayment penalties, closing costs, or property liens.
As an approved contractor, we can help you explore your eligibility and walk you through the application process, so you can move forward with improvements confidently and affordably.
